Get the Low Down on Low Frequency

| Aug 1, 2012 — Many local authorities and consultants receive complaints about very low-frequency noise, but the subsequent investigations can be difficult and time-consuming to make. To help environmental officers and consultants overcome this problem, Brüel & Kjær has created a simple kit combining it’s Low-Frequency Pressure-field ½” Condenser Microphone (Type 4193) and sound level meter (2250 or 2270) making it possible to measure broadband down to 1Hz (-1dB @ 0.5Hz). The meters can be equipped with frequency analysis software (BZ-7223) which provides 1/3 octave analysis down to 6.3Hz centre frequency and/or Fast Fourier Transformation application (BZ-7230) offering analysis down to 1Hz. Brüel & Kjær’s 2250 and 2270 sound level meters - along with the 4193 microphone - have been fully documented for compliance with IEC 61672.
