Motoman Robotics Sponsors Educational Institutions for RIA Membership

Press Release:
Mar 15, 2012 — DAYTON, OH — Motoman Robotics is pleased to take advantage of the Robotic Industries Association (RIA) Educator Sponsorship program by sponsoring Highland Park High School (Topeka, KS), Ivy Tech Community College (Columbus, IN), Spot-Lowe Technology Center (Lewisburg, TN) and Wichita Area Technical College (Wichita, KS) for membership to the RIA. The program allows RIA members to sponsor a teaching and training institution for an Educator membership in the RIA.

Highland Park High School is the first high school to be a member of RIA. The school recently purchased two Motoman educational cells and eight DX100 SES-II Simple Education Systems as part of GO Topeka’s Entrepreneurial and Minority Business Development (EMBD) program. Each educational cell features an enclosure with a Motoman MH5 material handling robot and MotoSight 2D vision system. The SES-II is a PC-based robot simulator that allows users to learn to operate and program Motoman robots in the virtual world.

Ivy Tech Community College is a Motoman Endorsed Robotics Instructor Training (MERIT) center. Ivy Tech began offering the DX100 Basic Programming course in 2011 with the possibility of expanding their course offerings and including other campuses. Ivy Tech purchased six Motoman educational cells.

Spot-Lowe Technology Center purchased an educational cell with a MH5M robot, DXM100 controller and MotoSight 2D.

Wichita Area Technical College will begin offering a robotics course in the fall of 2012. The college bought a SES-II Simple Education System with a MH5 robot, DX100 controller and MotoSight 2D.

Institutions joining RIA as sponsored members benefit by gaining access to many opportunities, including student recruitment, savings on conferences and workshops (no limit for faculty or students), professionally reviewed papers and the ability to post unlimited content to Robotics Online.
