Oct 24, 2008 — Electro Standards Labs Designs Specialty Fiber Optic Network Switch for High-Speed Internet Carrier Electro Standards Laboratories, Cranston, RI, has designed the Model 6293 Fiber Optic Mirror A/B/C Switch, single Mode LC Duplex with Remote Serial Access to meet the requirements of a major High-Speed Internet Carrier. The Internet Carrier will incorporate numerous units into its network. This QuickSwitch® Model 6293 allows the user the capability of sharing a Fiber Optic LC Duplex pair connected to the COMMON port among three other sets of LC Duplex pairs connected to the A, B and C ports. Both local and remote access is provided. This switch was designed to meet all of the Internet Carrier’s requirements which included that the switch ports be transparent to all data. Reliability requirements needed to insure that all switched signals are passed via mirror relays that maintain their position and continuity even in the event of a power loss or failure. This switch supports single mode fiber (SMF-28), 9/125 micron fiber with a wavelength of 1310nm. Remote ASCII command interface allows the user to control switch position and obtain switch status. To meet security requirements, the front panel pushbutton can be locked-out using the remote ASCII commands. This switch supports OC12 speeds of 622 Mbps.
