Mar 27, 2013 — Morgan Thermal Ceramics announces that Steve Chernack, manager of applications engineering, will give two presentations at the American Ceramic Society’s (ACerS) Forty-ninth Annual Symposium on Refractories, which is focusing on refractory challenges in the chemical and hydrocarbon processing industries. Mr. Chernack will speak on the growing use of low biopersistent fibers in refineries and chemical plants, and will also present on energy efficient lining designs for today’s fired heaters. The symposium will be held March 27-28, 2013, at the Hilton St Louis Airport Hotel, in St Louis, Missouri. During the presentations, Mr. Chernack will highlight Morgan Thermal Ceramics experience in manufacturing high temperature fiber and refractory materials for over 80 years. The company offers a fully integrated approach through consultation, design, manufacturing, and installation. Mr. Chernack will speak about the use of high temperature low biopersistent fibers in refineries and chemical plants on March 27, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. Driven largely by European regulations, where the use of refractory ceramic fibers (RCF) is severely restricted, low biopersistent fibers have successfully been used to replace RCF in numerous industrial and commercial applications. “The acceptance of low biopersistent fibers has been growing steadily in the US, due to strong technical advantages as well as reduced need for special workplace controls,” said Mr. Chernack. “The talk will reveal some surprising applications where low biopersistent fibers are now being used and contain thought-provoking points on their future use in refineries and chemical plants.” On March 28, 2013 at 9:30 a.m., Mr. Chernack will give a presentation on energy efficient lining designs for today’s fired heaters, which will outline refractory lining systems designed and optimized to be the most energy efficient and reliable available today. “Fired heaters are the central process units in many refineries and chemical plants and use a tremendous amount of energy to help drive their associated processes,” said Chernack. “The need to lower operational costs by increasing energy savings and reliability is key to competing in today's global marketplace.” For further information, please contact: Kristin Nugent, McNeil, Gray & Rice Inc. 617 367 0100 ext. 148 kristin.nugent@mgr1.com Wendy Evans, Tel: +1 706 796 4200 Email: wendy.evans@morganplc.com About Morgan Thermal Ceramics Morgan Thermal Ceramics is a world leader in the design and manufacture of advanced heat insulation products which are used to help reduce energy consumption in a range of industrial processes, from iron and steel production to power generation.
