Electroplating, also known as Metal Plating or Metal Finishing is the method of applying a metallic coating to another material. This is done by putting a negative charge onto the object to be plated and immersing it into a solution which contains a salt of the metal to be deposited. The metallic ions of the salt carry a positive charge and are attracted to the part. When they reach it, the negatively charged part allows the electrons to "reduce" the positively charged ions to metallic form and create the plating. Plating can be used for different reasons and the process provides a hard shell for the material or object being plated or finished. Most items are plated to avoid corrosion or create abrasion resistance, while other items are plated for a cosmetic finish, or to change the properties of the part (i.e. Conductivity, Heat Dissipation, or Structural Integrity) Tulsa Plating Company provides zinc plating services which apply the highest quality durable finishes to your steel, brass, and copper parts. Our processing lines are designed to deliver consistent results in both low and high volume production runs. Tulsa Plating Company is also capable of masking critical areas. We have tape, plugs, or caps to cover holes, threads, or critical surfaces. Our zinc line tanks measure 132” long x 30” wide x 48” deep and a 2000 lb capacity motorized hoist system gives us the ability to handle both very large parts that no one in T

Nyflon 25 is a co-deposit of electroless nickel and PTFE (Teflon©). Unlike competing electroless nickel/PTFE coatings, which involve the application of PTFE to the electroless nickel layer in a secondary process, the PTFE element of Nyflon 25 is a component of the electroless nickel bath itself. This denser, more uniform distribution of PTFE particles within the entire thickness of the deposit insures constancy of lubrication throughout the lifetime of the application. At standard deposits in the range of .0002/.0005", Nyflon 25 is recommended for sliding applications, in which a coefficient of friction as low as .07 is achievable, and plastics-forming applications from injection molding to thermoforming, where it provides excellent release of the formed part from the tool. Bi-Protec is a two-step process that combines electroless nickel with an overlay of Armoloy TDC or XADC. Excellent for highly corrosive applications, this dual coating involves an initial layer of electroless nickel at a thickness of .0002/.003" followed by a .0001/.0003" deposit of thin dense chrome. In addition to maximum corrosion protection, Bi-Protec can also be employed to impart the benefits of Armoloy TDC or XADC to aluminum components, by virtue of the electroless nickel under-layer, which adheres absolutely to the aluminum substrate.

Zinc is one of the most common types of plating. It is primarily used to prevent corrosion of the underlying metal as well as make that part more attractive. Rack plating is applied to parts individually therefore critical parts and others susceptible to damage should be considered for rack plating. We currently provide both a trivalent clear/blue chromate (Type V) and a hexavalent yellow/gold (Type II) chromate finish. Testing is in progress for a trivalent yellow chromate finish and we will update the website when that has been completed. Our capabilities range from orders as small as one (1) pound up to semi loads. We have the ability to weigh count as well as meet any special packaging and labeling requirements you may have.
