| Auto Technology's roots began in the early 1940 s in Chicago IL as the Crown Equipment Co • Auto Technology's roots began in the early 1940's in Chicago IL as the Crown Equipment Co. • Crown Equipment Company purchased in 1965 by Harshaw Chemical Company • Established in the 1940's in Chicago, IL • Manufacturer of General Metal Finishing Equipment • GS Equipment Company purchased in 1973 by Harshaw Chemical Company • Established in the late 1950's in Brookpark, OH • Manufacturer of Corrosion Test Cabinets and Bulk Plating Barrels • Both Businesses were consolidated in 1975 at the GS Equipment facility, Brookpark, OH • Harshaw Chemical Company purchased by Gulf Oil in 1977 • In 1982, Gulf Oil sells to Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corporation. • Kaiser Aluminum sells to Engelhard Corp. 1988 • Engelhard and Atochem formed a joint venture by merging their two companies to form > M&T Harshaw in 1990. • GMF Equipment business relocated to Strongsville, OH in June 1991 • Atochem purchases the Engelhard portion of M&T Harshaw along with the Electroplating Division of Schering, forming Atotech, via merging • Atotech is a fully owned Subsidiary of Elf Atochem. Elf Atochem is owned by Elf Aquitain a 35 Billion dollar French oil company • In Feb. 2000, Atotech sells the GMF Equipment division to local management and outside investor. • June 2002 Auto Technology Company purchases the assets of UES (Unified Equipment Systems) formerly known as the Udylite Equipment business. • Auto Technology Company is now capable of producing all Udylite style plating equipment as well as being the only supplier of Udylite style parts made from the original prints, patterns and molds. |
