| Blair Strip Steel is North America's premiere heavy gauge strip steel producer for fineblanking and heavy stampings. Blair performs cold rolling, annealing, temper rolling, slitting, shearing, edging and oscillate winding operations. Blair ships from our mill in New Castle, Pennsylvania to customers from Canada to Mexico and California to Florida.
Founded in 1923 by George D. Blair, the company was built and continues today as a specialty producer of low carbon, high carbon, alloy and custom grades of strip steel. In the early 1900's, Blair produced steel strip for various office machines and the up-and-coming auto industry. During World War II, Blair produced heavy, precision strip for tank bearings and strip for steel pennies used to save copper for wartime electronics in 1943. Since then, Blair has produced and developed a growing list of specialty steels for aircraft, automotive, electrical, consumer and safety components.
Today Blair can roll steel as heavy as .625" (15.4mm) and designs special qualities and specifications for the most demanding fineblanking and heavy gauge stamping applications. We produce Aircraft Quality alloys, fineblanking quality steels (FBQ), electromagnetic iron (BMI) and develop tailored materials for custom applications. We can prepare round, round-cornered and deburred edges on heavy gauge strip and rewind into oscillate-wound coils.
Blair Strip Steel is a leading supplier to North America's growing fineblanking industry, producing a wide range of European grades, Japanese specifications and our own FBQ products for successfully fineblanking the most critical configurations in the world. Blair is also a leader in product and metallurgical development, utilizing our experienced staff and met lab facilities to solve customer problems and create value-driven opportunities for improved performance and cost-savings.
