About CLESCO/Congress Drives: |
Established in 1930, CLESCO is a manufacturer and wholesale distributor of mechanical power transmission components, related custom-machined / die-cast zinc and aluminum products (like sheaves and pulleys), and small tools / abrasives. Our main assembly, packaging and distribution facility is in Willoughby, a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. We are a privately owned and operated business and take special pride in our long history of continuous growth and service to the industrial, commercial, and institutional markets through large OEM's, national and regional distributors, as well as providing products to retail stores and catalog houses for consumer purchase. Manufacturing and Distribution: Until 2003, our manufacturing and distribution operations were exclusively in our Ohio facility. In September of that year we acquired Congress Drives, a premier U.S. manufacturer of die-cast zinc and aluminum pulleys, mounted bearings, shaft couplings and related components. Congress Drives has now been established as a division of CLESCO and will be recognized with the CLESCO/Congress Drives logo on future promotional and distribution packaging materials. Originally established in 1915 in Detroit, Congress Drives now manufacturers the standard and custom die-cast product in Ennis, Texas. Congress pulleys are a natural compliment to Power Transmission component lines of bearings, shaft collars, etc. For many years both CLESCO and Congress Drives provided products to the same customer. Now we can offer those customers opportunity to consolidate their purchases through one company – reducing associated costs and complexity. Our objectives for future growth hinge on our ability to provide our customers with the products they need at competitive levels. For some of our PT products we have established relationships with foreign sources to maintain a price point that meets market levels. We continue to invest in long-term raw material purchase commitments, appropriate service levels of finished goods, and adequate packaging materials to stay ahead of inflationary trends. Most of our products are readily available from stock. We have also learned that customer demand for consolidated supply requires that we position ourselves to support more depth and breadth in the categories we offer. Having a tremendous line of die-cast sheaves and pulleys can satisfy part of an OEM or distributors product requirement, but they may also need cast iron sheaves and v-belts. To meet this need CLESCO has now developed an alliance with Maska, a Canadian manufacturer of cast iron sheaves and bushings. Maska has a product line, an organizational structure and a very solid commitment to the marketplace that exceeds traditional U.S. and foreign competitors. As a q |
