| Augustus Galorneau established Central Screw Products in 1924, on Walker Street, three blocks from the river, in the heart of downtown Detroit. Initially Central Screw Products manufactured parts for the agricultural tractor and automotive markets, using automatic screw machines. In 1942 production switched to help the war effort. For the next three and a half years Central Screw Products produced parts for all branches of the military.
After the war ended Central Screw Products returned to its previous markets, and did a great deal of work for International Harvester.
In 1950 Augustus Galorneau passed away and his son, Russ, took over the company. Russ continued in the same markets, increasing the amount of business Central Screw Products did with the agricultural tractor market. | |
