History & Facilities
Clyde Corporation was founded by M. A. MacDonald along with a few investors, in the mid-1950s. MacDonald, an immigrant from Scotland, named the company after a river that ran through his hometown, The River Clyde. (Approximately 100 miles long, The River Clyde runs between Glasgow and Greenock, Scotland.)
Throughout the next four decades, Clyde continued to expand its operations and capabilities. During this time, Clyde engineers developed and patented more than 30 designs, including several unique escapements that have since become the industry standard. In the late 1960s, Clyde Corporation was sold, but the principals retained the rights to the name. When the contract expired, Clyde Corporation was restarted in the mid-1970s by a few essential employees. In the mid-1980s, Clyde Corporation was purchased by Sunshine-Fifty, Inc., and functioned as a wholly owned subsidiary.
In 1994, Clyde Corporation was purchased by Phillips Service Industries, Inc. (PSI), an international service and manufacturing company based in Livonia, Michigan. Today, Clyde is a leading supplier of automated parts feeding equipment to the automotive and other manufacturing industries.
Located in Evansville, Indiana, the Clyde manufacturing plant occupies about 50,000 sq. ft. Clyde Corporation's success is built on providing innovative solutions to our customers' automation requirements and timely, on-site technical support.
