QUALIFICATION AND SELECTION OF CONTRACT MANUFACTURERS Contract Manufacturing Consultants identifies the right contract manufacturers for our clients locally, regionally or internationally. We have extensive knowledge of many large, mid-size and smaller CM's in many geographic areas. We also conduct supplemental industry research to insure multiple strong options for our client. To verify current capabilities and performance, CMC visits potential CM sites for on-site investigation of capabilities critical to the clients needs. We conduct extensive due-diligence and rating surveys with customers, suppliers and others for further insight. We then recommend request for quotation (RFQ) strategy and analyze the merits of incoming proposals. WORLD-CLASS COST MODELING CMC has developed a world-class, activity-based cost model used to estimate contract manufacturer production costs and fair pricing worldwide. It is activity-based and utilizes data inputs of the client's own product, process and support requirements. It incorporates individual printed circuit board production processes and infrastructure costs for varying delivery systems, i.e. high mix/low volume, mid-volume and high volume production. The CMC model can answer a wide variety of what-if questions such as how costs might shift with changes in volume, mix or delivery system. It can also be used to assess the reasonableness of contract manufacturer pricing proposals and longer-term pricing viability. Since the model incorporates labor, productivity and other infrastructure costs for key contract manufacturing regions worldwide, it readily provides estimates of comparable production costs and likely prices for client printed circuit board assemblies and end-products in selected countries of North America, Latin America, Asia and Europe. PRICE AND CONTRACT NEGOTIATION CMC's contract template is the result years experience and study of contracts from leading OEM's well-experienced contract manufacturing. The template is highly customized for each client. It contains important operating procedures, performance expectations, pricing, liability limitations and special services. During contract negotiations, CMC can act as a facilitator between the parties or work behind the scenes in an advisory capacity. |
