Plastic Pulley Specs Nylon Pulleys Reinforced with Fiberglass Advantages 1. Rugged. Our plastic pulleys are used in the hostile environment experienced by commercial lawn mowers where high speeds (3600 rpm) and high temperatures (170°F) far exceed stresses encountered in most conveyors. Even under such severe conditions, our molded-in bearings and drive adapters will not separate from the fiberglass-reinforced nylon rim. 2. Molded-in bearings extend belt life. Molded-in bearings on our idler pulleys are more precise than pressed-in bearings and drive adapters. Pressed-in bearings may slip from side to side by as much as 1/16", meaning adjacent idlers can be out of line by 1/8". The resulting misalignment can cause premature belt wear. Our bearings and drive adapters do not slip. True-running idlers extend belt life. 3. Higher Quality and Lower Prices. The production of molded-in bearings requires fewer steps. This facilitates automation, improves quality, and reduces costs. Consequently, our prices are very competitive. 4. Pulley TIR (Total Indicated Readout) 0.020" Max Material High-grade plastic nylon pulley (sheaves) are reinforced with fiberglass. Standard bearings are imported 6203-2RS that are rated A.B.E.C.-1 precision and have radial seals. U.S. made bearings are also available. Bore adapters are sintered powdered metal. Bearing grease is Chevron SRI-2 or the equivalent, which has an operating temperature range of -20° to 350° F, complies with Mil-Spec MILG3545G, and passes ASTM D 1743-73 rust test with 5% synthetic sea water. Bearings with seals are standard and are better for dirty environments. Bearings with shields are available but must be specified when ordering. Shielded bearing turn easier, so they put less strain on motor and belts. Most roller conveyors use shielded bearings.
Round Idler Pulley and Round Drive Sheave Sizes • Idler 5/16 x 2.13" has a 6202 bearing -- 11 mm wide. Available only with .59" (15mm) bore diameter or .35" (8.9mm) bore adapter. All our other round and flat idlers use the 6203 bearing -- 12 mm wide, which fits all our bore adapters.
Twin Idler Pulley (Double Sheave) • For 1/8", 3/16", 1/4" and 5/16" belts. • Also used as diverter wheels with 5/16" or 3/8" tires. • 2.25" OD, 1.83" ID, 1.01" width. • Made from high-grade nylon reinforced with fiberglass. • A.B.E.C.-1 6203-2RS bearing (17mm bore). • Available with sealed or low friction shielded bearings. • Bore adapters available for 5/16", 3/8", 10mm & 1/2" bolts or shafts. Although we call it by two different names, we only make one size of twin idler pulley. Customers use this dual sheave with many different belt cross-sections, including 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 5/16", and even 3/8" belts. When our 83A/85A durometer belts are stretched tight, they are soft enough to conform to the pulley groove. Therefore, the groove radius is not critical. Under normal loads the belts will not slip.
V Idler Pulley and Vee Drive Sheave Sizes • 2" diameter available only with 3/8" (9.5 mm) bolt hole. Uses 6200 bearing -- 9 mm wide. None of our bore adapters will fit this bearing. All our other V-idlers use the 6203 bearing -- 12 mm wide, which fits all our bore adapters.
Flat Idler Pulley and Flat Drive Pulley (Sheave) Sizes These flat idler pulleys and flat drive sheaves are designed for DuraBelt's flat urethane belts, but they also work well with any kind of flat belt. Uses 6203 bearings -- 12 mm wide. Our flat idler pulleys and flat drive sheaves are made from nylon reinforced with fiberglass and ABEC-1 ball bearings. This nylon material is easy to machine on a lathe, and there is no fiberglass dust, as long as you do not grind it. We can cut down the flanges and/or add grooves (e.g. Poly-Vee grooves) at a slight extra cost. Our idler pulleys can be converted to drive pulleys with our drive adapters. Maximum bore diameter without an adapter is 17mm (0.669")
Reinforced Nylon and Zinc Drive Pulley and Sheave O.D. from 1" to 14" with pitch diameter of 0.9" to 13.75". |
