Remote wired temperature sensor Plum Valley Systems is now offering electronic temperature sensor-transmitters that feature modest price, amazing simplicity, and high quality. These devices bridge the gap between expensive industrial/military remote sensors and inexpensive consumer units, and can be interfaced to either a microprocessor-based system, or a completely analog monitoring/control system. The devices' analog output is a voltage which is a linear representation of the sensors' temperature graduated in 10mV/degree steps. For example, if the temperature of the sensor is 64.2 degrees, the voltage output is 642 mV. If the temperature is -23.1 degrees, the voltage output is -231 mV (with an additional negative voltage supply.) Both Celsius and Fahrenheit versions are available. The sensor-transmitters are housed in small cylindrical containers. The components and three-wire leads are sealed in a special epoxy, filling the cylinder. Simple inexpensive cable (CAT 2) can be used to extend the remote line hundreds meters. |
