Refractron Technologies Corp. is a leader in advanced engineered ceramics. Products include both controlled porosity and densely structured ceramics designed to meet requirements specified by our customers for durability, chemical, corrosion and wear resistance, toughness, and density.
The range of porous ceramic products includes membrane and monolithic tubes, discs, plates and other components made from aluminum oxide and silicon carbide where tightly controlled pore size and porosity is critical. Common applications are for filtration and sparging in chemical process, water and mining. Other specialty products include a range of adsorbent filter/drier cores for refrigeration applications, dispersion parts, vacuum chucks, inkpads and gas probes.
The range of dense structural ceramics using proprietary zirconia and alumina materials includes custom blended ceramic alloy powders formed by isopressing or extrusion to meet customer specifications. These ceramic alloy components are used in extreme wear and corrosion applications in the chemical and petrochemical industry as well as components for healthcare and dental applications.

The company's 77,000 sq. ft. headquarters houses our manufacturing, research and development facilities in Newark, NY, 30 miles east of Rochester.
History:
Refractron Technologies Corp., a privately held company, was founded in 1984 with the acquisition of the plant, equipment and technology at the present location. The business was originally based on porous ceramic technology purchased from The Carborundum Co. and the active filter drier technology of Tetron Inc. In 2002 Refractron acquired the technology of Xylon Ceramic Materials, Inc. and Advanced Ceramics Inc., relocating both to the main plant in Newark to manufacture the range of structural ceramic products and precision grinding and machining.
