Terry A. RistenbattMy LocationI live and operate my business in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. One of the things Lebanon is famous for is the Lebanon Bologna Drop on New Year's Eve.Lebanon is located 15 miles east of Hershey, Pennsylvania, the sweetest place on Earth.Etched GlassA craft whose roots reach back more than three centuries, glass etching is now enjoying great popularity among people whovalue the marvelous frosted effects that can be produced on glass through sandblasting .The appeal of glass etching has created an ever growing market which seems tohave no boundaries. If the item can be imagined, it can be created.Glass was probably first etched towards the end of the 17th centurywhen a Bavarian master craftsman named Henry Schwanhart usedhydrofluoric acid to decorate window panes. In 1870 a new method of etching was introduced that utilized theabrasive action of a stream of sand being shot at the glass surface by air pressure. This is what is known as sandblasting.
