Southeastern Manufacturing Company, Inc. (SEMCO) was formed on
July 1, 1966 by George Crawford and Mr. Carroll Lewis at the present location, to produce display racks, pegboard hooks, and accessories for store fixtures.

The manufacturing plant was very small and included only one small office. In addition to the owners, SEMCO had only two full-time employees.

SEMCO grew each year in sales and plant area, adding employees to meet the production requirements. A variety of products and services were introduced to make SEMCO a one-stop supplier for Point of Purchase Merchandisers.

In March, 1985, Mr. Crawford retired and the company sold to Clairson International of Ocala, Florida. Mr. Lewis stayed with Clairson in their Packaging Division, which was another company Clairson simultaneously purchased from
Mr. Crawford and Mr. Lewis, known as Florida Pak.

January 1, 1989, Mr. Lewis purchased the Company (known as Clairson Commercial Display) back from Clairson and returned the company name to SEMCO. In August 1994, Mr. Lewis decided to merge SEMCO with Leggett & Platt Incorporated, a large corporation with over 16,000 employees.

Today, SEMCO is part of Leggett & Platt's Fixture and Display Group, employing over 150 employees, and operating 130,000 square feet of manufacturing space. Our sales and customer base extends nationally and internationally, and our commitment today is the same as it was in 1966. We intend to produce a quality product at a competitive price, and provide customer service second to none, with a continued loyalty to our employees and the community.
