SS Plating Services is a member of the Metal Finishing Assoc. POLISHED CHROME FINISH This finish is used for durability and eye appeal. At South Shore Plating Co., Inc. we use triple plating process of copper, nickel and chrome. The use of nickel promotes better color and wear, nickel also promotes rust resistance. Each piece to be plated is polished to a mirror finish between operations. SATIN OR BRUSHED CHROME FINISH The process used is the same as described above, but in the final stage an extra polishing process is performed using a special wheel to provide a grained finish to distress the surface of the piece, therefore providing a dull finish, rather than a mirror finish. BRIGHT NICKEL Bright nickel provides a softer, warmer finish than the polished chrome finish. The process involves copper plating and nickel plating polished to a mirror finish. This finish requires more care than chrome as it will tarnish over time if not coated in lacquer. SATIN NICKEL FINISH This finish is the same as described above, except that in the final stage, an extra step is involved using a graining wheel to distress the surface. 24KT GOLD This is a decorative finish only and does not wear well unless coated with lacquer. The process required uses copper, nickel and then gold, with the piece polished to a mirror finish between each process. Powder coating is also available. COPPER PLATING--ANTIQUE COPPER PLATING Copper plating can be provided in the following finishes, mirror finish copper, satin finish copper or antique copper, which is a darker copper finish. Powder coating is also available. BRASS PLATING--SATIN BRASS PLATING--ANTIQUE BRASS PLATING Brass plating can be provided in the following finishes, polished brass, satin brass and antique brass. Refinancing and polishing of solid brass material which can then be coated with lacquer for durability. Powder coating is also available. POWDER COATING (Electrostatic coating) This is a baked on finish that can be provided in color or clear. It is extremely durable and prolongs the life of other coatings, especially brass, co |
