About Sphinx Panel and Door: |
OUR MISSION: Sustained Growth Through Long Term Customer Relationships. OUR GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: To provide and install cold storage boxes that are engineered and manufactured : * using materials of the highest quality available * with the best insulation values available * at the lowest possible cost to the customer OUR COMPANY HISTORY: Sphinx Panel and Door, Inc. was created in the 1990's by Terry Bovee, an entrepreneur whose roots in the polyurethane and polyester business are well known in the Midwest. While supplying industrial polyurethane to the walk-in cooler and freezer establishments in the 80's and early 90's, Terry realized that there seemed to be an absence of companies manufacturing foamed-in-place polyurethane refrigeration panels or doors in the dead center of the U.S. Heartland. A customer in need of a foamed-in-place urethane insulated walk-in cooler or freezer would generally have to buy outside of the Midwest in order to fulfill their needs. With Terry's prior polyurethane manufacturing experience in the 70's, to his hands-on industrial polyurethane marketing experience of the 80's, along with the proven techniques of walk-in cooler insiders that were met along the way, a top quality, affordable, foamed-in-place panel and door company was created, and Sphinx Panel and Door, Inc., in Carbondale, IL, is making its presence known throughout the Midwest. The panels and doors that are manufactured by Sphinx Panel and Door, Inc. are foamed-in-place with a two component rigid foam that is UL 723 classified for Class I surface burning characteristics. This foam insulation has an initial core K-Factor of 0.130, which translates into an R-Value of 30.8 for a 4" thick panel or door. The panels are framed with 2 1/2" of 2.5# density extruded polystyrene, known not only for it's excellent insulation properties, but for it's superior resistance to extreme temperature and moisture fluctuations. There are NO cam lock fasteners in 99% of the panels made by Sphinx Panel and Door, Inc. Therefore, there is no internal metal hardware, no hollow spots, no air voids and no allen wrench holes to cap in our panels - just 100% insulation. We install our coolers and freezers using an insulated spline to join the panels together, which essentially creates a totally insulated wall, instead of several hooked together panels. All seams are sealed with USDA silicone (or butyl rubber where appropriate). The absence of the cam locks not only makes for a superior insulated panel, but it lowers the cost to the customer as well. Standard available panel skins are 26 gauge G90 embossed galvanized steel, 26 gauge G90 USDA white embossed galvanized steel, 26 gauge stainless steel, or .090 white textured FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic). Sphinx Panel and Door, Inc. custom manufactures AND INSTALLS the products it makes. Markets served include the food processing industry, ice producers, warehouse and cold storage distribution facilities, restaurants, grocery stores, liquor stores, convenience stores, and environmental rooms. Sphinx Panel and Door, Inc. also distributes and installs fiberglass liner panels over existing walls. Traffic doors, strip doors, power slide doors, overhead insulated doors, and replacement doors are available. Refrigeration systems can be configured to the specific applications of the customer. Sphinx Panel and Door, Inc. can create the entire cold storage package. At the moment, Terry still oversees every installed project. This policy is key to the reason why Sphinx Panel and Door, Inc. has been so well received in the Midwest. |
