LIQUID COATINGS EMI / RFI Shielding Coatings With so many electrical components having plastic housings, EMI (electrical magnetic interference) and RFI (radio frequency interference) cause havoc with the electronics inside. A conductive coating needs to be placed on the inside areas of the plastic housings to reflect this interference. These coatings are available in graphite, copper, nickel and silver or dual combinations. Tell us the number of ohms per square you need and we can apply the correct coating to solve your interference problem. Additional Info: http://www.vanwestrum.com/EMI.html
LIQUID COATINGS Epoxy Coatings Epoxy coatings have been around for decades. They come as powder coatings and liquid coatings. In the liquid form, the coatings are usually two component systems that are solvent based or water based. Epoxy is a tough, fairly corrosive resistant coating used in all industries. It usually handles temperatures between -50°F and 250°F. We prefer not to use it on outdoor applications because the UV rays from the sun will cause the coating to "chalk" or turn whitish. This usually does not deter the coating film, but can be unsightly if you have a cosmetic part. We have applied it to exhaust fans, automotive under the hood parts, exercise equipment, tanks, potable water pumps, food equipment and many other applications. Van Westrum Corporation uses many epoxy coatings manufacturers depending on the application. We have years of experience spraying 3M's Scotchkote® on/in tanks, as seen at the left, pumps and piping for potable water. Please call us now to discuss your application problems. We will be honored to work with you in deciphering which coating system will work for you. Additional Info: http://www.vanwestrum.com/Epoxy.html
LIQUID COATINGS Teflon® Coatings TEFLON® is a registered trade mark of DuPont for its line of fluorocarbon coatings. These coatings have excellent corrosion protection, non-stick, heat resistance, and low friction characters. Depending on which type of Teflon®, the coatings can function between -450°F and 500°F. There are three main classifications of types of fluorocarbon coatings: PTFE, FEP, and PFA, with a fourth that is one of or combination of the three mixed with various resins to increase its hardness and wear capabilities. All Teflon® coatings must have a bake to sinter or melt flow the coating. The curing, depending on the Teflon®, is usually 350°F to 800°F. Please make sure your product can withstand the curing temperatures. Starting back in 1954, Van Westrum Corporation has applied TEFLON® coatings to many parts in a wide range of industries. We have coated fasteners, heat sinks, cutting/sealing blades, chutes, tanks, springs, cryogenic and pipe fittings, saw blades, heat plate coils, vibratory feeding bowls, medical needles, catheter guide wires, dryer drums, automotive parts, mixing bowls and many other parts. Several of the TEFLON® coatings are FDA acceptable for food contact. Please call us now to discuss your application problems. We will be honored to work with you in deciphering which TEFLON® coating system will work for you. Additional Info: http://www.vanwestrum.com/Teflon.html
LIQUID COATINGS Urethane Powder Coatings Urethane coatings are used in many applications where a durable, corrosive resistant, UV resistant coating needs to be met. Powder or two component liquid offers a excellent decorative coating for many applications. Van Westrum Corporation applies both the liquid and powder urethanes. Some of the urethane applications we have completed are hand railings, boat parts, ski towers, trailers, motorcycle frames, outdoor furniture, roof mount exhaust fans, military parts, exercise equipment and many others. Please call us now to discuss your application problems. We will be honored to work with you in deciphering which coating system will work for you. LIQUID COATINGS Xylan® Coatings XYLAN® coatings are fluorocarbon coatings manufactured by Whitford Corporation. These coatings are used in so many applications such as food processing equipment, automotive, aircraft, marine, chutes, fasteners, tanks, seal bars, hoppers, rollers, bearings, cookware and many others. They contain, PTFE , FEP , PFA and other dry lubricants. Depending on the coating system, XYLAN® coatings will withstand continuous temperatures from -450°F to 500°F. Whether you are looking for non-stick, corrosion resistance, low friction, wear resistance and/or dielectric strength; Van Westrum Corporation can come up with a solution for your application. We have over 40 years of experience with XYLAN® coating systems. Please call us now to discuss your application problems. We will be honored to work with you in deciphering which XYLAN® coating system will work for you. Additional Info: http://www.vanwestrum.com/Xylan.html

POWDER COATINGS Polyester Powder Coatings An excellent coating for outdoor products is a polyester powder coating. With 1.2 mils to 3 mils thickness and proper pretreatment, polyester coatings are great for patio furniture, reflective lighting, lawn mowers, fencing, hand railings, playground equipment, automotive parts, exhaust fans and many more outdoor applications. With the addition of TGIC (triglycidyl isocyanurate), the coatings get better edge coverage and increases the UV protection. We have had some polyester applications pass 1000 hours salt spray. Please call us now to discuss your application problems. We will be honored to work with you in deciphering which coating system will work for you. POWDER COATINGS Polyethylene Coatings Polyethylene coatings are thermoplastic coatings that have excellent impact resistance, UV stability and resists stress cracking. With characteristics very similar to vinyl coatings, this coating is very environmentally friendly because it does not emit bad fumes during processing as does vinyl coatings. Being a powder coating, this coating can be applied by electrostatic spray or fluidbed means. Some applications where polyethylene coatings are found are stadium seating, street furniture, sign posts, fences and fence posts, piping, battery boxes, ducting, vibratory feeders, potable water fittings, springs, and many more. Please call us now to discuss your application problems. We will be honored to work with you in deciphering which coating system will work for you.
