| With nearly 70 years in the business of manufacturing transformers as well as rebuilding our competitors' units, Ward has developed the knowledge of what works best on nearly any application. Only the best components and materials are used in our transformers; this is in conjunction with quality precision engineered designs. Our designs are first computer-engineered, then calculations are carefully generated by hand to verify that the transformer will meet or exceed required performance criteria. We always build our units on a conservative design and not to the very edge of the rating.
Our windings are not the industry standard of a film-coated wire alone. Whether aluminum or copper conductors are used on the primary, we use a Kraft paper insulation which is double-wrapped over the conductor. This is used to minimize the chance of burrs in the standard wire coating causing a turn-to-turn fault. Our low voltage conductors, in most applications, are of a sheet winding. The use of sheet conductor on the secondary of the transformer helps to provide the greatest short circuit strength. We incorporate a thermally up-rated epoxy coated diamond design Kraft paper insulation. When the coils are heated, the epoxy flows over the coil, binding the conductor and the insulation together. This creates the best design for helping to withstand the abuses associated with industrial applications.
Ward can offer quick response to your application needs. Since we are a small company, the usual red tape associated with a large company does not get in the way. By the time most companies can produce reference drawings, we can already be winding the transformer. Usually within hours after receipt of an order, the first stages of production are in motion.
Finally, it is noteworthy that Ward has not had an in-the-field failure of a liquid-filled transformer core and coil assembly in over 7 years. The attention to providing quality products backed up by our group of trained technicians is your assurance of the best transformer on the market today! | |
