Urethane casting refers to the method of casting urethane components from temporary polymer molds. Prepared from a master pattern, these molds are generally made from RTV silicone. This casting process is especially popular for rapid prototyping, and urethane is used because of its availability in different material options, which can match the mechanical properties of the production material. Besides this, another advantage of using urethane is that it makes a cost-effective option for resin casting.
