Waste Containment Liner Systems Solid Waste Landfill Landfill liners are designed and constructed to create a barrier between the waste that is dumped in the landfill and the ground below it. When a new landfill disposal area is constructed, referred to as a landfill cell, the geomembrane liner and other geosynthetic products are installed. Once these materials are placed, they are then seamed together and tested to verify that the seams do not contain leaks or weak points. These liner materials ensure that leachate is channeled properly through the landfill to a collection point rather than allowing leakage into the ground where it can become a hazard to groundwater and the surrounding environment. Solid waste landfills are highly engineered containment systems that are designed to minimize the impact that waste (refuse, trash, and garbage) can do to the environment and human health. The geomembrane liner's primary purpose is to isolate the landfill's components from the environment and to ensure protection of the soil and groundwater.
Waste Containment Liner Systems Mining Increased awareness and new regulations in the mining industry have led to the use of geosynthetics in areas such as solution containment, contaminated soil containment, and reclamation. Geomembranes serve a double purpose, not only do they contain valuable resources, but they protect the surrounding environment as well by inhibiting the spread of contaminated water from runoff and infiltration into the ground.

Liquid Containment Liner Systems Waste Water Lagoons In the 1980's, increased awareness and new regulations addressing industrial and municipal waste water were developed. Many wastewater treatment facilities and their holding lagoons fell under government mandates such as the Clean Water Act, requiring a lining system to contain contaminants and prevent the polluting of streams or groundwater. Hallaton Inc. has extensive experience in the installation of various liner materials in the large volume containment lagoons, as well as smaller detailed applications such as sludge drying beds. Hallaton Inc. understands the importance of a job well done and will provide you with a finished product that is professional and high quality. |
