About Storch Magnetics: |
Founded by Edward A. Storch in 1952 as an industrial sales representative organization for leak detection fluids, Storch Products has become a national manufacturer and distributor of magnetic components and equipment. Stemming from the founder's technical and sales background, and with the help of his wife, Ruth and teenage children, Marjorie and Richard, Storch Products evolved during the 1950's from a sales representative organization to a distributor of industrial products for the automotive industry. Along the way, magnets and magnetic components became the mainstay of the Storch product line. To satisfy customer demand, Storch began making minor adjustments to standard magnetic materials, becoming the original designer and manufacturer of insulated multi-pole magnetic assemblies for industrial applications.. Their design and manufacturing expertise now includes the manufacture of magnetic slide conveyors. A slide conveyor is constructed so that the chips, slugs or finished products to be conveyed move along the topside of a stationary sheet while rows of magnets travel below - a design that differs from the traditional "hinge" conveyor which has the conveyor surface moving along with the conveyed parts. Today, Storch Magnetics has achieved a high level of technical competence and employs state-of-the-art technology, Storch has developed an extensive product line of standard magnetic parts, raw materials and equipment while also providing their national customer base with customized magnetic assemblies and conveyors, on demand. Recognized as specialists in magnetics and conveyors, Storch's conveyor sales have progressively grown- relative to volume, customer diversity and geographic range. Located in Livonia, Michigan (a suburb of metropolitan Detroit), Storch sells through several channels of distribution. Independent sales representatives and distributors service local, regional and national accounts while Storch sells direct to local and national OEM's. Additionally, other manufacturers private label Storch's products. Upon the founder's death in 1960, Storch Products became a woman-owned business and remains so today with Ed and Ruth's daughter, Marjorie Storch as principal stockholder and President. The 20-30 employees work as a team with second and third-generation family members to effect double-digit growth over the last several years. Having recently added increased manufacturing facilities, Storch anticipates exceeding their growth trend while servicing a larger national customer base with a more in-depth, state-of-the-art product line. |
