A rotary pump is a positive displacement pump consisting of a chamber containing gears, cams, screws, vanes, plungers or similar elements actuated by relative rotation of the drive shaft to casing, and which has no separate inlet and outlet valves. These pumps are characterized by their close-running clearances. There are seven common basic types of rotary pumps identified by the type of pumping element.

A reciprocating power pump is one driven by power from an outside source applied to the crankshaft of the pump. It consists of a liquid end and a power end.

Rubber hoses are flexible pipes featuring an inner tube of seamless synthetic rubber and layered on top with wire braid and cotton braid, while rubber-impregnated cotton braid forms the outer layer. Various rubber compounds are used for the construction of the hose’s outer cover while the inner tube is made of PVC and SBR, cross-linked and polyethylene, nylon and wire reinforcement. Hoses of varied lengths, sizes and end-fitting configurations are attainable; they are typified on the basis of their pressure tolerance under normal operating conditions. These hoses are familiar in applications such as unloading fuels and oils from tank railroad cars.

Regenerative blowers are air-handling devices that generate centrifugal airflow and exhibit archetypal features of low pressure, high volume and non-positive displacement. They are generally powered by DC power, AC single and three-phase sources. Compression and vacuum regenerative blowers are the two major types under this class of air blowers. Compression regenerative blowers can be configured to operate either as an air supply unit or a compressor while vacuum regenerative blowers can be configured to serve as an exhauster or vacuum pump to suck or eliminate air, fumes or gases.
