Indexing Turntable Machines This programmable, indexing turntable machine reduces per-unit cleaning costs on piston rebuilds by over 30 percent compared to previous methods. By coordinating the movements of 16 blast guns, oscillating vertically and horizontally, with spinning work stations on a rotating platform, the system ensures thorough coverage and fast cleaning in a single pass. Eight guns oscillating vertically clean the sides and skirts of the pistons. The guns sweeping horizontally clean tops and interiors.
Continuous Processing Machines Empire offers turntable and in-line machines for continuous processing. These systems can be loaded and unloaded manually, equipped with robotic arms or designed as an integral part of the production line. Our continuous turntable machines come in four standard models with table diameters ranging from 36 inches up to 108 inches. Larger units are available with two rotary blast heads. The heads can be oriented to perform separate functions, such as blasting the interior and exterior of parts at the same time. Standard features include a rubber cabinet lining and a urethane coating on the turntable for extended service life.
Shot-Peening Machines Empire continues to develop air-blast peening systems with advanced computer-control, blast-coverage and material-handling features that not only increase productivity, but also assure repeatability—a major concern in these quality-intensive applications affecting the structural integrity of critical components.
In-Line Machines Our In-Line Machines process parts on a continuous basis. These machines accept and unload work pieces handled manually or robotically. Standard conveyor belts are available in 20" or 24" widths and belt speed is variable to maximize production efficiency on different types of work pieces. We offer a full range of conveyors, including flat-belt, pinch-belt and pinch-roller systems. As always you have the choice of suction, pressure or continuous-pressure blast systems with fixed or oscillating guns or our unique rotating head with high-production suction gun configurations. Standard units come with either six-gun or nine-gun rotary blast heads. These units can be custom engineered to meet your production requirements.
Single Piece Flow Cell Machines Empire's single-station cell machines serve as just one example of how we meet the ever-changing demands of manufacturers worldwide. Our cell machines reduce inventory requirements and conserve floor space, giving many customers the winning edge in an increasingly competitive global marketplace.
Batch Processing Machines Our batch processing systems, which include both continuous and indexing turntable machines, are ideal for parts requiring long blast cycles. In the typical work scenario, the operator loads work pieces onto the turntable, sets the timer, starts the machine and returns when the cycle is completed. By adding a blowoff manifold and timer, which automatically remove residual material from the part and turntable, the operator is freed from the often dusty task of manual blow-off. Empire's PF-4848-RS with a 36-inch turntable, our PF-6060-RS with a 48-inch turntable and the PF- 7272-RS with a 60-inch turntable feature rotating blast guns that assure even coverage. Blast-head and tablerotation speeds are both variable to meet a wide range of production requirements. Rotary blast heads for these machines are available with four, six or nine blast guns.
4-Axis Machines Empire has supplied many tire mold cleaners to aid manufacturers in gaining production with minimal downtime. We have made machines that handle up to 10,000 lb. molds, 65" in diameter. Our programmable 4-axis machines with part recipe storage capabilities reduce changeover time when switching tire mold size or style. We have made machines for Bridgestone, Firestone, Cooper Tire, and Goodyear among others.
EM2 Dust Collectors Cartridge Dust Collectors for High Volume Systems Designed for dust collection with high-production equipment, such as automated air-blast systems, these EM cartridge collectors increase air flow, provide more filtration area, and clean filters automatically. The filter cleaning system consists of a photohelic gauge, provided as standard equipment. This unit responds to high and low set points, measured in terms of pressure differential across the filtering material, to activate the jet-pulse cleaning process. Once the pressure limits have been set, these collectors essentially clean themselves.
Media Control Media Size Control Media size control may be the most important aspect in achieving consistent blast results. Empire's cyclonic reclaimers are the best the industry has to offer. The external tuning band allows the operator to control the size of the fines carried to the dust collector, thus maintaining a desired media size range. Adjustments require no tools and once the desired media mix is achieved, the operator is able to "set it and forget it." For shot peening and other systems where the media size must be guaranteed to be within a specified range, vibratory classifiers are added. 100% of media will pass through the classifier (shown at right) prior to blasting, ensuring consistent arc heights or surface profiles.
Rotary Heads Empire's rotary blast head delivers tremendous coverage while conserving compressed air. When the application calls for it, our rotary head will outperform any horizontal-nozzle oscillator, including our own, by reducing the number of blast guns and energy required for the job. Our rotary heads contribute to the outstanding performance of our in-line conveyor, continuous turntable and batch turntable machines.
Oscillators Empire utilizes DC motor driven, ball screw oscillators with all motors and bearings outside of the blast environment. The standard oscillator is variable speed, adjustable from 0.1 to 1.0 ips through a potentiometer mounted to the control panel. The addition of this oscillator includes a control panel upgrade to include an Operator Interface Terminal. Oscillation parameters include fixture length and stroke length (programmable in 1" increments) and quantity of strokes.
Automatic Media Replenishing This feature has many beneficial qualities. With pressure machines and rotary head systems, automatic media replenishing is especially advantageous. It gives the operator a convenient place to add media, as its 4 cubic foot storage hopper is floor-mounted. Once the system recognizes that the media level is low, an automatic Sure-Flo valve opens to add virgin media to the reclamation stream until the proper level is reached. "In Refill" and "Make-Up Hopper Low" indicator lights are added to the control panel. An often overlooked but valuable quality of automatic media replenishing is the inherent media consistency it ensures. Fresh media is consistently added as the media breaks down and is drawn to the dust collector, maintaining a more consistent media size than an operator could. |
