Camprofile gaskets, alternatively referred to as grooved gaskets, are flexible sealing materials comprised of metal core mostly stainless steel furnished with concentric grooves on each side. Each side is surfaced by a sealing layer such as graphite, PTFE, metal (e.g. aluminum or silver), or an asbestos-free gasket sheeting material. These gaskets provide the highest level of sealing integrity. Exclusion of the sealing layers risks the strength of the flange surface especially at higher levels of seating stresses. Gaskets of this type are of great applicability in industrial power plants, primary circuits in nuclear applications, and in chemical as well as petrochemical industries where high temperatures and pressures are maintained and necessitate controlling of high bolt loads.
